“Incidents Around the House” by Josh Malerman is written from the point of view of eight-year-old Bella. We follow Bella as she navigates her innocent life, haunted by a malevolent entity named Other Mommy. As Bella starts to realize that her Mommy and Daddo are having trouble in their marriage, Other Mommy wants nothing more than to get into Bella’s heart.
This was a slightly creepy story with a unique child’s point of view. Although entertaining, the unique format was underwhelming and slightly mediocre for me. The short chapters were a plus, but I was expecting more from the ending of this story; unfortunately, it didn’t deliver the results I was hoping for.
This is one book that I cannot recommend to others. I personally feel there are other superior haunted stories out there to read. All of these are my personal opinions and may differ from yours. Give it a try if you must.
