Thank you to the author, Alistair B. Hayward for the gifted copy.  All opinions expressed here are mine alone.

Full disclosure up front: this book is extreme horror, with many trigger warnings and disturbing content. Please proceed with caution if you have any triggers.

As sinister as this book is, I thoroughly enjoyed it! I literally could not put it down. It reminded me of the true case of Jack the Ripper and also has American Psycho story vibes. The character development in this book is superb and intricate! For the record, I enjoy true crime and bringing awareness to the general public about cold cases. Morally, it felt wrong for me to read a book like this, and I had to continuously remind myself that it’s just a work of fiction. It’s almost as if I were driving by a horrible car accident, and I just could not possibly look away.

Overall, the ending was not exactly what I was expecting—in a good way. This is Howard’s debut novel, and he’s definitely a new author to keep your eyes on. I would happily read another one of his deeply disturbing books.

I would highly recommend this novel to extreme horror fans.  This one will knock your socks off.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5
