Book Review – “The Intern” by Michele Campbell

“The Intern” by Michele Campbell follows Madison Rivera, a law student at Harvard, as she lands an internship with one of her professors and longtime inspiration, Judge Kathryn Conroy. However, when Danny, Madison’s brother, who is being detained on drug-related charges, goes missing after accusing the judge of corruption, Madison immerses herself in Judge Conroy’s glamorous lifestyle to investigate what happened to her brother. Who is this judge for whom Madison is working?

This is one of those books that hooked me in, and I was interested in how the story would play out. However, without giving anything away, it just wasn’t my cup of tea. The dual timeline with Judge Conroy provided more than enough background information, and perhaps even too much, which spoiled what was truly happening. As a result, you get a sense of the whole story fairly early on in the book, which made reading some parts of it a snooze fest.

Would I recommend it? Sure! If you enjoy legal thrillers with a cat-and-mouse chase, then you will most likely enjoy this. Unfortunately for me, it’s one story that will most likely not stick with me for very long.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3/5
