New Review – “The Clinic” by Cate Quinn

“The Clinic” by Cate Quinn follows Meg, a casino worker who goes undercover to catch cheaters. Meg’s sister recently died in a high-end drug rehab facility dubbed “The Clinic.” Meg also suffers from drug addiction and books herself into “The Clinic” to try to uncover her sister’s mysterious death. But what if she uncovers more than she expected?

Buckle down because this is a long novel at 448 pages! Although short chapters make this a breeze to read with two POVs, it is a slow burn. It slowly unravels the inner workings of the rehabilitation facilities with all the high-class celebrity patients. It also shows the reader the physical and psychological challenges one goes through in their journey to sobriety.

The pace definitely picks up at the end, with many feelings of being trapped. A warning to anyone who suffers from claustrophobia: it certainly gets your heart pumping.

Talking about addiction, this is Quinn’s first novel written while she was sober from alcohol, and that’s certainly something to celebrate.

Overall, it was an enjoyable novel, although it was long enough that it could have been shorter. Everything ties up nicely in the end.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3/5
