New Review – “The Stillwater Girls” by Minka Kent

“The Stillwater Girls” by Minka Kent follows Sage and Evie, two sisters who were raised in the off-grid wilderness. When their younger sister gets sick, their mother heads into town to get care for the young girl but never returns. The two girls are then forced to break one rule they were supposed to follow: to leave the homestead.

Short, sweet, and beautifully written, this story is full of questions and is slightly reminiscent of “Where the Crawdads Sing” by Delia Owens. Imagine growing up with no electricity or education on how the real world truly is. These girls have been secluded and secured from the outside world for so long, and it’s fascinating to see how they navigate the “real world.” But this novel is more than that, as dark secrets begin to unravel. It will keep you on your toes as you make assumptions, and the story reveals multiple twists along the way.

I highly recommend this book, although I can’t tell you much about it without spoiling the story.  Be sure to go into this book as blind as you can, because it’s much more exciting that way.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5
