“The Cul-De-Sac” by Christopher Null follows a group of neighbors who share secrets, keep secrets to themselves, and hide secrets together. How well do you really know your neighbors?
Thank you to the author, Christopher Null, for reaching out with the review request and for the physical copy for review purposes. All opinions expressed here are mine alone.
Be forewarned, there are a lot of characters in this book, and most of the first half is dedicated to character development. I will say that this usually bothers me when there are so many characters to keep track of, but it didn’t in this case. Why didn’t it? Well, Null developed these characters beautifully, and they all had distinct names. So, that wasn’t a problem for me at all.
It’s no secret, book synopsis and all, that there’s a killer in this book. Once this killer gets involved with one of the cul-de-sac neighbors and tragedy strikes, the secrets start to build up. But can the new 16-year-old neighbor keep quiet about the neighborhood happenings? The secret that the 16-year-old must keep is so deep, and she’s so young that you can see and feel her mental state starting to deteriorate. I truly felt bad for her.
Overall, I enjoyed each of the neighbors’ characters. Although they are shady individuals, it was entertaining! I would recommend this book to thriller lovers, as it is so unique and is not at all what I was expecting. The twist will shock you.
To wrap things up, I gave this a four-star rating, and it would have been a five; however, the ending left me wanting to know more. I was actually pretty shocked by the ending. It was complete in a way, but it left me wondering where the rest of the book went.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5
