New Review – “What Lies Between Us” by John Marrs

“Words are not enough to express the unconditional love that exists between a mother and a daughter.” —Caitlin Houston

“What Lies Between Us” by John Marrs follows a mother, Maggie, and her daughter, Nina, as they live their lives together. The only problem is that the daughter keeps the mother chained up at all times. Why? What did Maggie do to deserve this life? Will she escape her captivity?

This is one hell of a good psychological thriller! I’ve always wanted to dive into a book written by the famed author John Marrs, and this one didn’t disappoint. I cannot wait to read more books by this author!

This book starts out slow and methodical, exploring each character, their pasts, and their relationships with each other and others, including Maggie raising her daughter. Where does she go wrong, and why is she being held captive in her own home? I was waiting patiently for the big reveal while enjoying the flow of the story, and then it hit like a hurricane. Secrets that the reader assumes throughout are brought to life, along with new secrets we can’t even fathom. It was truly like a chaotic hurricane striking the coast.

If you haven’t gotten your hands on this book yet, now is the time! It’s hugely entertaining, with a chilling exploration of mental illness. Do yourself a favor and plan to read this soon.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5
