“A Simple Favor” by Darcey Bell starts when a woman asks a simple favor of a friend. She wants her friend to watch her young son for the evening, something the friends trade off doing fairly regularly. But when the woman never returns, is it really just a simple favor?
Thank you to the publisher, HarperCollins, for the gifted finished copy for review purposes. All opinions expressed here are my own.
This book was so unhinged, and I loved every minute of it! We have three POVs: two women and one of the husbands, along with the occasional mommy blog entry that sneakily adds to the story. Deep and dark secrets, along with a death that contributes to the plot, make this a mighty page-turner that I gobbled up.
This book has had not one, but two movie adaptations: “A Simple Favor” and “Another Simple Favor,” and I can’t wait to watch them both after reading this twisty book.
Although the Goodreads reviews aren’t stellar, I would absolutely recommend this book to thriller lovers, especially if you love unhinged characters. They all have their flaws, but some have more than others. Happy reading!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5
