Trusted surgeon. Loving wife. Murderer? “The Surgeon” by Leslie Wolfe follows Anne, a cardiac surgeon who lost her first patient on the table. She only realizes who her patient truly is once she stands behind the surgical cape. Did she call the monster’s time of death too early? Did she kill him?
I thoroughly enjoyed this easy popcorn thriller! Between all the drama and the love triangle, it hit all the suspense buttons. I enjoyed trying to figure out who the patient was and his backstory related to the main character. I also enjoyed questioning whether she overstepped her surgical duties and actually killed the patient.
The ending left me with a little twist, but it seemed rushed and somewhat underwhelming. Overall, I would recommend this book to lovers of popcorn thrillers.
