“None Left to Tell” by Noelle W. Ihli is based on the true events of the Mountain Meadows Massacre and follows both women and girls who were connected in some way to the terrible massacre that occurred in 1857.
This novel is considered a historical thriller, although I have to respectfully disagree. Besides the graphic content, it truly feels more like historical fiction. It’s written almost like a diary of the daily lives of these women.
I thoroughly enjoyed being educated about an event I had no knowledge of prior. It’s heartbreaking, and the content is hard to read. You can tell that the author did a great deal of research and digging into this event, as she explains at the end. She tried to mainly stick to true events and real people during the time she wrote this.
I was expecting more of a thriller, but given how this book was written, my thirst for a thriller was left, well… unquenched.
Regardless of what I expected, it was an eye-opening read and further justified my dislike of religion.
I would recommend this book, especially to historical fiction fans who want to read a work of fiction that comes very close to a nonfiction read.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5
